Sports star and academic! This was what we were trying to showcase when I shot Tye's senior pictures. Student at a local Christian preparatory school, his mom wanted some nice classic shots of him, as well as some that showed his love for sports. Luckily we were able to do both, and some of even them merged together.
We did this shoot in two parts. The first part I photographed at the Kingwood Country Club. The sun sets so lovely there and with the rocks and trees, it just makes for a classic backdrop. Tye had on a nice blue suit, which worked well with the color surroundings. After I got the shots of him in his suit, his mom and I added in some of his sports equipment and Bible.
Lastly we got some photos of him in his cap and gown. He put this over his blue suit.
The second part of Tye's shoot was photographed at his school gym at a different date. We focused on his high school basketball career. I did several different poses and it took about an hour.
Being a teenage boy, he forgot his basketball shorts! He wore jeans with his jersey. I used different angles and coloring to hide this to give the illusion he was wearing his full basketball uniform.
We used the spray fog to create a dramatic effect. These always turn out so cool!
I like to edit in text on sports photos to create a sort of poster. Here is one. The basketball was the perfect 0 in 2025.
